The Folsom, El Dorado, and Sacramento Historical Railroad Association is hosting the 31st Annual Folsom Handcar Derby on May 4th & 5th. This unique event, held on the former Southern Pacific Placerville Branch, features local businesses, groups, and charities competing to get their 850lb handcar across the finish line.
Handcar teams of 5 will compete in various divisions on the 800-foot track along East Bidwell Street at Broadstone Parkway.

The Folsom Garden Club is hosting its 22nd annual Gardens of Folsom tour on April 27th & 28th.
The tour will showcase a variety of beautiful and diverse gardens, art, and waterfalls. This year also marks the unveiling of a certified wildlife habitat, a bonsai display, and a bonus community garden. Glass artists and master gardeners will be in attendance, as well as food trucks and raffles.
AKT Investments and UC Davis Health have proposed an ambitious 2,800-acre, 8,000-housing-unit development for Folsom and El Dorado County.
The "Community for Health and Independence" is designed for mobility and independent living, and prioritizes serving elderly adults and people with disabilities across Sacramento and El Dorado counties. Angelo Tsakopoulous, a prominent Sacramento developer, is set to present the project to officials on Tuesday.
